Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede, who has shown her commitment to her craft and willingness to make daring changes for her art, faces criticism after going bald for an upcoming film role.
According to Gistreel, In a video posted to her Instagram page, Jegede described the decision-making process and said she believes in giving her all to her roles, even if it means stepping outside of her comfort zone.
Her decision to go bald was motivated by more than just appearance; it was also an attempt to better inhabit the role she plays.
To further demonstrate her commitment to portraying the character truthfully, Yvonne also revealed that she is learning Yoruba for the part.
“I love my job too much not to take risks… I see myself as a tool to convey the appropriate message, if the script deserves it, I will do whatever needs to be done to give the story life.
Apart from this drastic change, I am learning to speak proper Yoruba language. AJA is a love story… A provoking story that will have you on your feet,” she captioned the post.
However, fans and followers have had differing opinions about her choice. Some commended her commitment, while others questioned whether such a drastic step was necessary in light of advances in makeup and technology.
