Native Edo doctor shoots dead client while testing bulletproof charm

A 19-year-old self-described native doctor has been taken into custody by the Edo State Police Command in connection with the death of his patient.

In an attempt to demonstrate the effectiveness of a charm he had prepared for the deceased, the native doctor—who specializes in making charms to ward against the effects of gunshots and cutlass attacks—killed his client.

The incident happened on August 20 at Onumu Community in Edo State’s Akoko-Edo Local Government Area.

The bulletproof charm was requested by Alex Ezekiel, the victim, from the suspect, according to a statement made on Monday by SP Moses Yamu, a spokesman for the State Police Command.

The charms were prepared for the now-deceased Alex Ezekiel “m” by going to the “native doctor.”

“After preparing the charms, the native doctor tried to test the efficacy of the charm by shooting the deceased with a gun.

“Unfortunately, the deceased sustained fatal injuries and was rushed to Ifejola Hospital, Igarra, where he was certified dead by a medical Doctor,” the statement said.

As soon as the investigation is finished, Yamu stated that the suspect would be prosecuted.
