Churches have been notified by the Lagos State government that it will launch its on-street parking program, which will enable it to charge vehicles parked on approved streets on an hourly basis.
The directive would go into effect in October, according to a July 19 notice from the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), which was signed by Ayokunle Akinrimisi, the organization’s head of operations.
The notification, which was sent to the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) branch chairman, stated that irresponsible parking of cars would also be subject to consequences. “I am directed to inform your esteemed organization that the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) will be initiating its on-street parking scheme at designated streets within the Lagos State metropolis,” the notice stated.
Because of this, I am using this platform to notify your eminence that cars that are parked on streets that the church and its members designate will incur hourly fees, and that parking cars anywhere will be subject to appropriate enforcement.
LASPA advised that the directive “be adhered to as a law-abiding organisation.”
But the agency withheld the true cost that would be imposed.
