More than 100 terrorists, including some of their leaders, were reportedly killed in Borno, according to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, director of public relations and information, released a statement on Sunday informing the public of recent airstrikes.
At Mantari village in the Gezuwa region of the Bama Local Government, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) carried out the interdiction mission.
The spokesperson declared that the terrorist leaders Khalid Tukur, Maimusari, and Bakura Jega had been eliminated.
The raid was prompted by intelligence regarding Ikirima, a Boko Haram commander who had recently moved his gun trucks to Mantari village.
After the initial attacks, according to Gabkwet, some terrorists who had managed to survive returned to the scene in order to remove the bodies.
As a result, there was a chance for a second attack, which turned out to be very successful, neutralizing more than 100 terrorists and saving the lives of dozens more.
ISWAP and Boko Haram members have perfected plans to resume active hostilities during the holidays and the 2023 elections, according to Gabkwet.
The director claimed that the successful bombardment, which “has reduced their will to regroup and attack citizens,” was made possible by the intelligence on the attempt to attack soft targets in Bama.
