A woman has sparked widespread discussion online after her neighbour allegedly returned to an abusive marriage because of a promised ₦500,000 business fund, only to end up with a broken leg and medical bills reportedly exceeding the amount she expected to receive.
The story was shared on social media by a woman who claimed to have witnessed events surrounding her neighbour’s relationship.
According to her account, the neighbour had previously left the marriage after an alleged assault that reportedly left her hospitalised. Following the incident, her parents took her away from the matrimonial home to recover.
Despite the separation, the woman allegedly remained emotionally attached to the situation and frequently contacted the narrator to find out whether her husband had been seen with another woman.
The narrator claimed that the neighbour later disclosed plans to return to the marriage after her husband allegedly promised to provide ₦500,000 to help her start a business.
According to the account, the woman intended to collect the money before eventually ending the relationship for good.
Sharing the development online, the narrator wrote:
“My neighbour went back to her husband because of ₦500,000. She is now looking for ₦700,000 to fix a broken leg.”
The woman further alleged that the husband welcomed his wife back into the home after she returned. However, the reconciliation was reportedly short-lived, as problems allegedly resurfaced within days.
According to the narration, physical confrontations resumed and, during one of the disputes, the woman allegedly suffered a broken leg. The narrator also claimed that the promised ₦500,000 business capital was never given to her.
The story has since generated reactions across social media, with many users discussing the dangers of domestic violence, financial dependence in relationships, and the risks associated with returning to abusive environments.
Others used the incident to stress the importance of personal safety, family support, and seeking help when dealing with abusive relationships.
