Man Rejects Wife’s ₦3 Million Transfer After Seeing Payment Narration

A lady has sparked conversations on social media after narrating how her colleague returned a ₦3 million transfer sent by his wife because of the wording attached to the payment narration.

According to the lady, the man initially believed the money was a surprise gift from his wife and became extremely emotional and appreciative after receiving the bank alert.

She explained that he reportedly showered his wife with praise and affection before later deciding to confirm the details of the transaction through his mobile banking application.

“My colleague rejected a ₦3 million gift his wife sent him because of the transaction narration. According to him, he woke up to the alert, praised her endlessly, and even became extra loving in the bedroom before finally logging into his bank app to check the money properly. That was when he saw: ‘Contribution for the house project,’” she added.

The lady further claimed that the man immediately changed his attitude after seeing the narration and allegedly transferred the money back to his wife with the description:

Contribution for the house project rejected.”

The story has since generated mixed reactions among social media users in Nigeria, with many debating pride, ego, and shared responsibilities in marriage.

Discussions surrounding finances and contributions in relationships have become increasingly common online in recent years.

In 2025, several viral conversations also emerged after couples debated whether household responsibilities and financial burdens should be shared equally between spouses or handled traditionally by one partner.
