“My brother almost sent my mum to glory” – Lady shares hilarious sweet corn mix-up after grocery run in Lagos

A Nigerian lady has left social media users laughing after recounting a funny family incident involving her mother and brother, when a simple grocery errand turned into unexpected household comedy.

According to her, the drama started after her mother sent her brother to the market to buy groceries, including sweet corn needed for cooking fried rice.

However, instead of purchasing raw or canned sweet corn, her brother reportedly returned home with roasted corn.

Sometimes I wonder how people without female children cope. I just called home and my mom was complaining bitterly. She sent my brother to the market to get groceries for her and he almost called her to glory,” she said.

She explained that the brother saw roasted corn being sold on his way home, tasted it, enjoyed it, and then decided to buy seven pieces.

You know the crazy thing he did? She included sweet corn on the list of items she needed, and he bought roasted corn on his way back home.

“He said the corn was sweet when he tasted it and decided to buy 7. So she should start peeling roasted corn from its cobs to make fried rice?? I laughed until my jaw started paining me,” she added.

What began as frustration for their mother reportedly turned into laughter for the family, with many online users relating to the humorous misunderstanding.

The story has since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians joking about how male siblings often interpret errands in their own unique ways.

Social media reactions:

“Na creativity be this. Brother delivered sweet corn as instructed.”

“He even bought seven. That boy deserves an award.”

“This is why some mothers double-check market lists.”

“Roasted corn for fried rice is wild.”

“At least he tried, but this one na premium misunderstanding.”
