A Nigerian woman has stirred widespread reactions online after sharing a dramatic account of her aunt’s troubled marriage, alleging that years of physical absence due to business commitments led her husband to take another wife.
The story, which surfaced on social media this week, has ignited debates around marriage, career priorities, and the balance between financial success and family life.
According to the narrator, her aunt—who is based in Abuja with her husband—runs a thriving frozen food business in Ilorin. However, repeated efforts to establish the same success in Abuja reportedly failed, forcing her to spend most of her time managing operations in Ilorin.
She explained that the prolonged distance created tension in the marriage, as the husband repeatedly complained about her constant absence.
“My aunty’s frozen food business in Ilorin is doing very well, but the Abuja branch she opened didn’t work, so her whole energy stayed in Ilorin. Her husband kept complaining she was never home, but she would agree and still travel back for business and events,” the niece said.
Despite the complaints, the situation reportedly continued for years without a lasting solution. According to the niece, the husband eventually stopped raising concerns and made a decisive move.
“The man endured for a long time before deciding to marry another wife who is always around. Now my aunty is trying to stop the wedding, while her children have already accepted the new woman and even attend her events,” she added.
The revelation has added another layer to the unfolding drama, as the children’s acceptance of the new wife appears to have deepened the rift within the family.
The niece further claimed that her aunt, angered by the development, has threatened to disown her children over their stance.
