A young woman has shared a disturbing account of being allegedly assaulted while recording a confrontation involving police officers outside a gym.
According to her statement, the incident occurred as she was leaving the facility, where police officers were reportedly attempting to detain a man who had just driven out of the premises.
Witnesses at the scene, including other gym members, intervened and urged the driver to return inside while questioning the officers’ actions. As tensions escalated, the woman said she began recording the situation on her phone from a distance.
Recounting the moment, she said:
“I was just on my own trying to record what was going on when this man in a green sweater came to my front and just slapped me. He didn’t ask me to stop recording or delete the video; he just slapped me unprovoked and tried to collect my phone.”
She explained that she resisted the attempt to seize her phone, which led to a brief struggle before bystanders stepped in to separate them.
The woman described the experience as both shocking and humiliating, stressing that she had done nothing to provoke the attack.
She added:
“Why would you lay your hands on me? Did I steal or commit any crime? Even my mum has never slapped me before. If what you were doing was legal, why be scared of being captured on camera?”
The incident has since sparked reactions online, with many calling for accountability and raising concerns over the safety of bystanders documenting public confrontations.
