Man Cries Out After Girlfriend Allegedly Transfers ₦4.9M From His OPay Account, Takes iPhone 15 Pro Max While He Slept

A Nigerian man has taken to social media to recount a shocking betrayal after inviting his girlfriend to his home — a visit that allegedly ended with millions of naira missing from his bank account.

According to the man, identified as @samsonthegoat25 on X (formerly Twitter), the incident occurred while his girlfriend was visiting his residence.

He explained that he had fallen asleep during her stay. Upon waking up and noticing her absence, he initially assumed she might have stepped out briefly.

However, things quickly took a dramatic turn.

Thought maybe she was in the bathroom or just stepped out for air. Then I checked my Opay. She transferred ₦4.9 million straight from my account to hers. That’s when everything clicked,” he wrote.

₦4.9 Million Gone, iPhone Missing

The man claimed his girlfriend allegedly transferred ₦4.9 million from his OPay account directly into her personal account while he was asleep. In addition, he said she also took his second phone — an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Despite the alleged loss, he later disclosed that he had recovered the iPhone.

In a follow-up post, he expressed confidence that the matter would not go unresolved, adding a striking detail about his family background.

“Transferring the funds straight to her own account plus carrying the phone like that? Nah, massive L on her part. This one is finished. My grandpa was a former Brigade General. She definitely picked the wrong person to try this on,” he tweeted.

More Allegations Surface

As the story gained traction online, another user claimed to recognize the woman involved. The individual alleged that she had previously stolen valuables from his friend, including a Cuban chain reportedly worth ₦125 million and two cars.

“Lol it’s Esther, I know this girl, she did same for my guy. She took his Cuban worth of 125m and two of his cars. I told my guy to come here and cast her and he said it’s just two cars and Cuban that it’s nothing. Since then I didn’t say anything again about it,” the user wrote.

Online Reactions

The story has since sparked widespread reactions, with many users debating issues of trust, digital security, and accountability in relationships. Some questioned how access to banking apps was obtained, while others emphasized the importance of safeguarding personal and financial information — even in close relationships.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation from law enforcement authorities regarding the incident.

The viral account continues to generate conversations about trust, personal boundaries, and financial vigilance in modern relationships.
