Media personality Remi has sparked mixed reactions online after openly admitting she blocked her former secondary school best friend, saying she has “outgrown” the relationship.
In a candid statement, Remi explained that although her old friend still expects them to reconnect whenever she visits home, she no longer feels the bond they once shared. According to her, their lives have taken very different directions over the years.
She revealed that her friend is married with two children from different fathers and works as a tailor, while she remains unmarried and child-free. Remi said the last time she visited her, about five years ago, the meeting made her realize how much had changed between them.
According to her, they struggled to find meaningful topics to discuss and barely had anything in common. She recalled that her friend offered to buy her an egg roll and a bottle of soft drink from a hawker, but she declined, saying she did not want her to bother.
Believing the friendship no longer aligns with her current phase of life, Remi said she decided to block her friend’s contact to avoid “pretending” to maintain a relationship she no longer values.
Her statement has since generated conversations online about growth, social class differences, loyalty, and whether friendships should evolve or be left behind when people move in different directions.
