Nigerian Student Alleges Sexual Harassment During IT Over Refused Advances

A Nigerian student has sparked outrage online after sharing a disturbing experience of alleged sexual harassment during her Industrial Training (IT).

According to her post on X (formerly Twitter), the issue began just days after she resumed her placement. She claimed her supervisor privately expressed romantic interest in her and offered to “take care” of her.

When she asked if he was married, he reportedly admitted he was but said his family lived abroad and he only visited them occasionally. She firmly declined his advances, stating she does not get involved with married men.

Despite her refusal, she alleged that the supervisor continued to pressure her. She claimed he began sending her money daily — including weekends — describing it as “lunch money,” and repeatedly invited her to his house. She said she consistently refused and later informed her father about the situation.

Her father reportedly warned her to stay cautious and strictly avoid visiting the man’s house.

The situation escalated near the end of her training. She said she submitted her logbook for signing three days before completing the programme, and although he initially accepted it, he later imposed a condition.

On the final day, she claimed he told her she would have to come to his house to collect the signed logbook — otherwise, she could “forget about it,” implying she might have to repeat the year.

Distressed by the ultimatum, she contacted her father and gave him the supervisor’s phone number. According to her, moments later the supervisor entered the general office, dropped her logbook on the table, and loudly said, “Congratulations!”

The story has since generated strong reactions online, with many calling for stricter policies and stronger protections for students undergoing industrial training to prevent abuse of power in workplaces.
