A woman’s candid confession about how she “strategically” won over her husband has ignited a heated debate on social media, raising questions about love, manipulation, and trust among friends.
In a post that quickly went viral, the woman shared her story, explaining how a long-standing crush on her best friend’s brother ultimately led to marriage—but also created tension in her friendship after the wedding.
She revealed that she and her female friend had been close since secondary school. During that time, she quietly admired her friend’s brother from afar. Years later, the two reconnected at a party, which gave her the confidence to finally pursue her feelings.
The woman said she invited him to her home and carefully recreated elements of his childhood interests—his favourite football team shirts, books he loved, and music he enjoyed—to make him feel comfortable and emotionally connected. She continued this thoughtful planning throughout their relationship, arranging dates around his favourite foods and places.
“Basically, I set him up to fall in love with me—and it worked,” she admitted.
However, her revelations became complicated on the wedding day. She jokingly mentioned her efforts during her vows, thinking it would be seen as cute. Instead, her longtime friend—now her sister-in-law—was upset. After the wedding, the friend reportedly called her, accusing her of “trapping” her brother into marriage and claiming that she had only spent time with her to get closer to him.
The bride admitted that while there was some truth in that, she genuinely valued her friendship. Since the wedding, she said her sister-in-law had become distant and withdrawn, leaving her confused about whether she should apologise, even though she felt she had done nothing wrong. She added that her husband sees no issue with her actions.
The story has sparked strong reactions online, with some praising her honesty and others criticising her approach, fueling discussions about love, boundaries, and ethics in relationships.
