A Nigerian lady has ignited conversations about dating boundaries on social media after explaining why she completely cut ties with a man she had been talking to for two months.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by popular blogger @Damiadenuga, the lady revealed that she and the man had been communicating consistently and eventually planned a sleepover at his place.
According to her, she had clearly stated from the beginning that she disliked horror movies and preferred calm, feel-good films. However, when she visited his home, the man ignored her preference and deliberately put on a horror movie.
She described the experience as uncomfortable and unsettling, especially because she was a guest in his space. The lady said his action made her feel unheard and disrespected, stressing that hosting someone should come with basic consideration for their comfort.
“He knew I don’t like horror films, but he still played one and was laughing and enjoying it. That told me everything I needed to know,” she said.
Her decision to stop communicating with the man afterward sparked mixed reactions online. While many women applauded her for setting firm boundaries, others felt she overreacted, arguing that the issue was too minor since they were still in the talking stage.
Reacting online, one user wrote, “If someone ignores your boundaries this early, it only gets worse later.” Another commented, “It may look small, but respect starts with listening.”
Despite the divided opinions, the lady stood by her decision, maintaining that small actions often reveal deeper intentions and that ignoring simple boundaries was reason enough for her to walk away.
