A Nigerian lawyer, @ChisomAgbafor, has sparked reactions online after sharing an unexpected experience during a visit to Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos.
According to her post, she had gone to the facility to interview a man facing serious federal charges. Expecting fear, anxiety, or emotional distress after explaining the gravity of the allegations and their possible legal consequences, the lawyer was instead met with a surprising response.
Rather than showing concern about his case, the suspect reportedly shifted attention to her personal life and asked her a direct question:
“Barrister, are you single?”
Amused by the unexpected turn of events, Agbafor shared the story humorously online, noting that her legal career continues to expose her to strange and unforgettable moments.
In her words, she wrote:
“I went to Kirikiri today to interview a guy facing serious charges for a federal offense.
I expected panic, fear maybe even tears after explaining the possible outcome.
But no. He’s more worried about my relationship status. He asked me, ‘Barrister, are you single?’
Omoh! This lawyer work ehn, I’ve seen too much.”
The post has since drawn laughter and commentary from social media users, many describing the incident as both hilarious and unbelievable.
