A lecturer at the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), Akwa Ibom State, has sparked widespread outrage following a heated outburst during a lecture, where he angrily told students he would not return to the class until examination period.
The incident, captured in a video now circulating widely on social media, has generated intense debate about professionalism, emotional control, and lecturer-student relationships in Nigerian universities.
In the viral clip, the visibly enraged lecturer was heard shouting at the students, declaring, “Your father, I will never come to this class again until your exams.”
While the exact cause of the confrontation remains unclear, the outburst reportedly followed a disagreement or alleged misconduct during the lecture.
The video has since attracted massive reactions online, with many Nigerians condemning the lecturer’s choice of words and questioning his approach to discipline. Others have called on university authorities to investigate the incident and enforce professional standards.
As of the time of filing this report, the management of the University of Uyo has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
The incident has once again reignited discussions around accountability, emotional intelligence, and appropriate grievance-handling mechanisms within Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
