Nigerian singer Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has shared a deeply emotional testimony on how his fortunes dramatically changed in 2025, crediting a viral moment involving Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal as the turning point in his career.
The singer made the revelation while giving his testimony at Harvesters International Christian Centre, where he opened up about the difficult phase he experienced before his resurgence.
According to Skales, the year began with intense spiritual dedication, which he described as the most demanding season of prayer and fasting he has ever undertaken.
“Earlier this year, I prayed a lot, I fasted a lot; I’ve never fasted like this year,” he told the congregation.
He explained that at the peak of his struggles, he wrote down seven specific prayer points, adding that every single one of them was answered in one day.
Skales revealed that the most life-changing moment came when a short video surfaced online showing Barcelona teenage sensation Lamine Yamal dancing to his 2015 hit song, “Shake Body.” The clip quickly went viral, reigniting public interest in his music and putting him back in the spotlight.
“I told God that He needed to bless me because I’m being laughed at and my career just looked funny,” Skales said.
“The one that changed my life was when a kid in Barcelona, Lamine Yamal, did a simple dance step to my song, and it went viral.”
The viral moment sparked massive reactions across social media, with fans and industry observers celebrating the unexpected comeback of the Afrobeats star.
Recall that in April 2025, after the video of Lamine Yamal dancing to “Shake Body” surfaced, Skales experienced a career resurgence that included exclusive invitations to high-profile events, such as Barcelona’s Copa del Rey celebration, where he performed live. The renewed attention also inspired him to release a tribute track titled “Dance Like Lamine Yamal.”
The singer’s testimony has since resonated with many fans, with several praising his resilience and describing his story as a powerful reminder of faith, patience, and unexpected breakthroughs.
